| How does it work? Fraxel Laser creates thousands of microscopic thermal (heat) spots that form deep, vertical columns or zones of treated skin tissue, which are separated and surrounded by unaffected, healthy skin tissure. This innovative approach allows us to treat a very small fraction of skin at a time so the skin heals much faster than if the entire area were treated at once. Since approximately 20-25% of the skin's surface area is treated at one time during each treatment, it is necessary to receive 3-5 treatments spaced 1-4 weeks apart, to achieve optimum results. On the skin's surface, the laser energy eliminates old, sun damaged and prigmented cells, penetrating deep into the dermis; this stimulates increased collagen growth. The body's natural healing process creates new healthy tissue to replace the microscopic zones vaporized by the Fraxel Laser.
